B259E-01-TRUNK/LIFTGATE DOOR HANDLE LOCK SENSE - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE





For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

NOTE: This DTC is set when there is a malfunction with the Liftgate Lock/Unlock Switch which is located on the underside of the License Plate Lamp Bar.

- When Monitored:
Whenever the module is awake.

- Set Condition:
If the Liftgate Lock/Unlock Switch circuit is low for longer than two (2) minutes, this code will set.





1. VERIFY THAT DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) B259E-01 IS ACTIVE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
4. Wait two (2) minutes.
5. Using the scan tool, read the Active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B259E-01-TRUNK/LIFTGATE DOOR HANDLE LOCK SENSE - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Press and release the Liftgate Lock and Unlock Switch several times. If the switch ever sticks, replace the Liftgate Lock/Unlock Switch. Liftgate Release Switch - Removal. Otherwise, test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and poor pin fit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. SHORTED SWITCH
1. Using the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Liftgate Lock/Unlock Switch harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. With the scan tool, select "Diagnostic Procedures", "Reset ECU" and "RFH" and perform the routine.
6. Wait two (2) minutes.
7. Using the scan tool, read the Active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B259E-01-TRUNK/LIFTGATE DOOR HANDLE LOCK SENSE - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE as active?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Replace the Liftgate Lock/Unlock Switch. Liftgate Release Switch - Removal
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

3. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the RF-Hub C2 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit in the RF-Hub C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to Ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. (P30) LIFTGATE HANDLE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (P39) LIFTGATE EXTERIOR HANDLE SWITCH RETURN CIRCUIT
1. Measure the resistance between the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit and the (P39) Liftgate Exterior Handle Switch Return circuit in the RF-Hub C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 20K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the (P30) Liftgate Handle Switch Sense circuit for a short to the (P39) Liftgate Exterior Handle Switch Return circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Radio Frequency Hub (RF-Hub). Radio Frequency Module (RF Hub) - Removal.
- NOTE: If this vehicle is equipped with a Steering Column Lock Module (Export), it MUST be replaced also.

- Replace the Steering Column Lock Module. . Shaft Lock Module - Removal
- Perform the RADIO FREQUENCY HUB (RF-HUB) VERIFICATION TEST. . RF Hub Verification Test
