DESCRIPTION
NOTE: Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) shown. Manual Temperature Control (MTC) similar.
There is an Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) or a Manual Temperature Control (MTC) Tri-Zone heating and A/C system available for this model. The Tri-Zone system allows the driver, front seat passenger and the intermediate seat passengers, the ability to individually regulate the air temperature for their portion of the vehicle. All controls are identified by International Standards Organization (ISO) graphic symbols.
The rear heating and A/C systems provide the intermediate seat occupants with a number of options to help control climate and comfort within their area of the vehicle (Refer to the Owner's Manual for more information on the features and settings of the heating and A/C system).
When equipped with either the ATC or the MTC Tri-Zone heating and A/C system, the primary controls for the rear heating and A/C system are in the U-Connect Touch (TM) screen module, and a second set of controls (2, 3 and 4) are located in the rear overhead console (1).
The rear controls allow intermediate seat passengers the ability to adjust rear air distribution, temperature and blower motor speed, when the rear controls are NOT locked out by the driver and front seat passenger.
Each of the controls in the rear A/C heater control are resistor type controls. When a button is pushed, or a knob is turned, the rear A/C heater control sends a resistive signal over hard-wired circuits to the A/C heater module.
The Tri-Zone heating and A/C systems are diagnosed using a scan tool Testing and Inspection.
Prior to replacing a rear A/C heater control or A/C heater module, check for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) related to the heating and A/C system, and run the calibration procedure to verify that the concern is not an air-door calibration issue HVAC Verification Test.
The individual controls located in the rear overhead console cannot be adjusted or repaired. If a rear control or control indicator lamp is inoperative or damaged, the entire rear A/C heater control must be replaced A/C And Heater Control - Removal.
