Power Transfer Unit - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the fore / aft crossmember Crossmember - Removal.
2. Remove the right halfshaft assembly. Half Shaft - Removal
3. Remove the exhaust and rear maniverter from engine Catalytic Converter - Removal.
4. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Propeller Shaft - Removal.





5. If equipped release the breather hose clamp (4) and reposition the breather hose (5) out of the way.
6. Remove the PTU-to-transaxle mount bracket upper bolts (1) and heat shield mounting clips (2).
7. Remove the heat shield (3). Discard the mounting clips.





8. Remove the lower heat shield bolt (2) and remove the heat shield (1).





9. Remove PTU-to-bracket lower bolts (2).





10. Using a suitable holding fixture, roll the engine and transmission to gain clearance.
11. Remove PTU from vehicle.
