B276A-00-EPPM SQUIB CONFIGURATION MISMATCH

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

For description of the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module - Description. For operation of the EPPM Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module - Operation. When powered, the EPPM sends a test current to the Electronic Pedestrian Protection actuator squibs to verify the integrity of the squib and the wiring.

- When Monitored:
The EPPM checks for the presence of a device once at every power up during the module initialization process.

- Set Condition:
This DTC sets when the EPPM detects a squib diagnosed as present when it should not be. Once set, this DTC will go from active to stored upon the squib being diagnosed as not present.

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. . EPPM System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure

1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read EPPM DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?

EPPM - ACTIVE DTC

- Go To 2

EPPM - STORED DTC

- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. . EPPM System Intermittent Test

2. CHECK EPPM AND VEHICLE CONFIGURATION
1. With the scan tool, check the EPPM and Vehicle Configuration.
2. With the scan tool, check for resistance present on one unused Squib component and not the other.

Is there resistance present on any one unused squib component and not the other?

Yes

- WARNING: Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

- Repair the unused Squib circuit.
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. . EPPM System Verification Test

No

- NOTE: Make sure the part number of the replacement module is the correct part number for the vehicle.
WARNING: If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
