Body Control Module - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the glove box assembly (1), Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.
3. Remove the two push-pin type retainers and remove the lower hush panel (3).

4. Release the clip (3) and position the fuse box assembly (2) down.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuse box (4).
6. Push the fuse box down and inward toward the floor. The top of the fuse box will roll back and release from the track.

7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Body Control Module (BCM) (1) receptacles (2 and 3) as needed.
8. Remove the two fasteners (4) at the bottom of the module.
9. Pull the module away from the side bulk head and down and remove the module.
10. Remove the BCM from the vehicle.
