Engine Control Module (ECM)
U1449-IMPLAUSIBLE ERS MESSAGE RECEIVED
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
This message is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for Electronic Range Select (ERS) operation. The ERS switch is hard wired to the Cabin Compartment Node (CCN). The CCN then sends a CAN bus message to the PCM.
- When Monitored:
Continuously with the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
This fault is set when the ERS message is not received or invalid.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure.
1. CHECK FOR TIPM CAN BUS DTCs
1. With the scan tool, read TIPM DTCs.
Are there any TIPM CAN BUS DTCs present?
Yes
- Testing and Inspection Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
No
- Go To 2
2. CHECK IF CCN DTCs ARE PRESENT
1. With the scan tool, read CCN DTCs.
Are there any CCN DTCs present?
Yes
- Testing and Inspection Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the appropriate TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. 68RFE Verification Test
No
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the PCM.
- Perform the appropriate TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. 68RFE Verification Test
