Interior Lighting Inoperative

INTERIOR LIGHTING INOPERATIVE

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The (E12) Panel Lamps Driver Circuit, (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver Circuit, and the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver Circuit all share an internal voltage feed from the Cluster. The (A909) Fused B(+) circuit supplies the voltage for these circuits. A short to ground on the (E12), (M24), or (M27) circuits, or the components they feed, will cause the entire interior lighting system to fail.

1. VERIFY INTERIOR LIGHTING INOPERATIVE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Actuate the interior lights.

Is the interior lighting inoperative?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. (E12) PANEL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Cluster C1 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (E12) Panel Lamps Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (E12) Panel Lamps Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. (M24) COURTESY LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

1. Measure the resistance between ground and the (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (M24) Courtesy Lamps Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. (M27) READING/RAIL LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND

1. Measure the resistance between ground and the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Using the Wiring Information as a guide, diagnose the short to ground in the (M27) Reading/Rail Lamps Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the Cluster.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
