Installation
4500 AND 5500
NOTE: If installing a NEW hub/bearing on a 4X4 only Steps 1-3 should be followed for the correct shim size.
1. Measure from the new hub/bearing unit crimp (2) to the flange (3).
2. Choose the correct shim according to the table:
3. Check the shim (2) on the axle shaft (3). Be sure that the shim (2) is placed with the radius side (1) to the joint.
4. Install the hub/bearing to the knuckle and tighten the hub/bearing bolts (1) to specifications .
5. Install the axle nut (3) and tighten to specifications .
6. Install the wheel speed sensor 2) to the hub and tighten the bolt (1) .
7. Install the disc brake rotor (1) .
8. Install the hub extension (2) and nuts to the front rotor and tighten nuts to specifications .
9. Install the brake caliper adapter with the caliper .
10. Install the wheel and tire assemblies .
11. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
12. Apply the brakes several times to seat the brake shoes and caliper piston. Do not move the vehicle until a firm brake pedal is obtained.
