B19CD-LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR CLOSE DIRECTION - PAWL SWITCH PERFORMANCE
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
Whenever the Left Power Sliding Door is performing a power close operation.
- Set Condition:
This code will set when the pawl switch has been detected before the door enters into secondary position during a closing operation.
Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR DTCS
NOTE: If there are any Power Sliding Door DTCs in the Left Door Module, perform those test(s) first before proceeding with this test.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record the DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
4. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
5. If possible, operate the left power sliding door several times.
6. With the scan tool, read the DTCs.
Does the scan tool still display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. CHECK THE LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR
1. Examine the Left Power Sliding Door for proper alignment, worn or binding rollers and hinges, loose/damaged weatherstrip, and track assembly for wear or anything that would cause an obstruction to proper operation.
2. If necessary manually operate the Left Power Sliding Door on a known good vehicle and notice the effort needed to open and close for comparison.
3. Especially notice the effort needed to unlatch and close the Left Power Sliding Door.
4. Open the door and manually close the latch. Open and close the latch manually several times while observing the latch for any sticking conditions
Were there any mechanical problems found?
Yes
- Sliding Door Adjustments and perform the appropriate repairs and adjustments.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. PERFORM THE POWER SLIDING DOOR LEARN CYCLE
1. Programming and Relearning and perform the Power Sliding Door Learn Cycle procedure (Sliding Door Open/Close Tests). If both tests "Pass" continue on here.
2. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on.
4. If possible, operate the power sliding door several times.
5. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Test complete. The module has relearned the door travel limits, resistance to door travel, door position, etc. Recheck for any intermittent door dragging or sticking conditions.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
4. (Q59) LEFT PAWL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Left Rear Door Module C2 connector.
3. Open the sliding door part way but manually fully close the door latch.
4. Measure the resistance between body ground and the (Q59) Left Pawl Switch Sense circuit.
Is the resistance below 10,000 (10k) Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Go To 5
5. (Q59) LEFT PAWL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Connect an ohmmeter between the (Q59) Left Pawl Switch Sense circuit and the (Q781) Left Power Sliding Door Mux Return circuit (cavity 15) in the Module C2 connector.
2. Make sure the door latch is still in the fully closed position.
3. While observing the ohmmeter, manually open the door (latch).
4. Repeat this step several times while observing the Ohmmeter.
As the latch changed from closed to open, did the resistance change from "O.L." (open loop) to less than 5.0 Ohms each time the latch was opened and closed?
Yes
- Replace the Door Module.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 6
6. (Q59) LEFT PAWL SWITCH SENSE WIRE FOR AN OPEN
1. Remove the Door Module Assembly.
2. Set the Door Module Assembly on the vehicle floor.
3. Reconnect the C316 In-line (Wire Track) connector.
4. Disconnect the Door Latch C1 connector.
5. Measure the resistance of the (Q59) Left Pawl Switch Sense circuit between the Door Module C2 connector and the Door Latch C1 connector.
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
No
- Repair the (Q59) Left Pawl Switch Sense Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
Yes
- Go To 7
7. CHECK THE (Q781) POWER SLIDING DOOR MUX RETURN CIRCUIT
1. Measure the resistance of the (Q781) Power Sliding Door Mux Return circuit between the Left Rear Door Latch C1 connector and the Door Module C2 connector (cavity 15).
Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Left Rear Door Latch Assembly.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Repair the (Q781) Left Power Sliding Door Mux Return circuit for an open.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
8. (Q59) LEFT PAWL SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
1. Remove the Door Module Assembly.
2. Set the Door Module Assembly on the vehicle floor.
3. Reconnect the C316 In-line (Wire Track) connector.
4. Disconnect the Door Latch C1 connector.
5. Measure the resistance between body ground (the bracket is not grounded) and the (Q59) Left Pawl Switch Sense circuit
Is the resistance below 10,000 (10k) Ohms?
