Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM)
B1BC7-00-DEPLOYMENT DATA RECORD FULL
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
When powered, the Electronic Pedestrian Protection module (EPPM) performs an internal self test. The repair of this fault condition does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying the integrity of the module's internal memory.
- When Monitored:
The EPPM checks its internal memory for the number of recorded deployment events once at every power up, during the initialization process.
- Set Condition:
This DTC sets when the EPPM detects that three recorded deploy events have been reached. Once set, this DTC is latched indefinitely.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. EPPM System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.
Diagnostic Test
1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read EPPM DTCs.
Is the Deployment Data Record Full DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. EPPM System Verification Test.
2. REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION MODULE (EPPM)
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:
If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
Repair
- Replace the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM). Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module - Removal.
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. EPPM System Verification Test.
