P054A-COLD START EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER-ADVANCED - BANK 1 SENSOR 2





NOTE:
The CMP sensor is a dual read sensor reading both camshafts of it's correlating bank.





- When Monitored:
First 20 seconds after engine start, as long as the engine has been off for at least 1 hour, engine coolant temperature has dropped at least 7°C (18°F), and the vehicle is NOT driven over 2mph.

- Set Condition:

NOTE: This diagnostic only applies to the Exhaust Camshaft on Bank 1.

If the actual cam position is more than 7° advanced (angular variation) from its desired position for at least 4 seconds, this DTC is set.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR CURRENT DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.

Is this DTC present?

Yes

- For complete diagnosis of this DTC, refer to (P0017) CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT TIMING MISALIGNMENT - BANK 1 SENSOR 2.

No

- Go To 2

2. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. Poor pin to terminal connections can set DTCs.Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this DTC. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorts and open circuits.

NOTE: Check for any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

Were there any problems found?

Yes

- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.

No

- The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
