Instrument Panel Steering Column Opening Cover - Removal

WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Using trim stick (C-4755) or equivalent, remove the lower cowl trim panel, Cowl Trim Panel - Removal. Repeat on opposite side.
3. Using trim stick (C-4755) or equivalent, remove the end cap (1) from the instrument panel. Repeat on opposite side.
4. Remove the screws (1) from the steering column opening cover. The screws are located near the hood release handle.
5. Remove the screw located on the outboard side attaching the steering column opening cover (1) to the instrument panel structure.
6. Using trim stick (C-4755) or equivalent, remove the steering column opening cover (1) from the instrument panel.
