REMOVAL
WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE:
Left seat shown in illustrations. Right seat similar.
1. Remove the seat from the vehicle and place it on a workbench Seat - Removal.
2. Remove the inboard seat cushion side shield Seat Cushion Side Shields - Removal.
3. Remove the seat back panel Seat Back Panel - Removal.
4. Disengage the J-hooks (1) that secure the seat bottom closeout (2) to the rear of the seat back frame (3) and position the closeout out of the way.
5. If equipped with power recliner, disconnect the wire harness connector from the power recliner motor located the near the bottom of the seat back frame.
6. If equipped with heated seats, disconnect the seat back wire harness connector located at the rear of the seat cushion.
NOTE:
Outboard side of power seat shown. Inboard side and manual seat similar.
7. Remove the two bolts (2) that secure the each seat back hinge (1) to the seat track (3).
8. Remove the seat back and seat back hinges from the seat track as an assembly.
