Interior Lighting - Description

DESCRIPTION

The interior lighting system for this vehicle includes both incandescent and Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit lighting on several separate circuits. The lamps in the interior lighting system include:

- Center Floor Console Lamp - A removable center floor console is available with an LED lamp unit to assist visibility of the console storage compartment at night. This lamp is controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit.

- Courtesy Lamps - Available LED courtesy lamps are located on each front door trim panel above the map pocket, and are controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit.

- Cup Holder Lamp - The premium overhead console includes an LED lamp unit aimed at the instrument panel cup holders to assist visibility at night. This lamp is controlled by the panel lamps dimmer circuit and illuminates whenever the exterior lighting is turned ON.

- Floor-Mounted Gear Selector Indicator Lamp - Vehicles manufactured for certain export markets and equipped with a floor-mounted automatic transmission gear selector have a gear selector (PRNDL) indicator lamp. This lamp is controlled by the panel lamps dimmer circuit and illuminates whenever the exterior lighting is turned ON.

- Front Dome Lamps - Front seat driver side and passenger side incandescent dome lamps are located in the base overhead console. Front seat driver side and passenger side aimable LED dome lamps are located in the premium overhead console. Both the incandescent and LED dome lamps are controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit and by independent lens-actuated switches.

- Front Door Map Pocket Lamps - Front door trim panel map pockets on some models include an LED lamp unit to assist visibility at night. These lamps are controlled by the panel lamps dimmer circuit and illuminate whenever the exterior lighting is turned ON.

- Front Map/Reading Lamps - The front seat driver side and passenger side dome lamps in the overhead console also serve as the map/reading lamps. Both the incandescent and the LED unit map/reading lamps are controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit and by independent lens-actuated switches in the overhead console.

- Liftgate Lamp - An incandescent liftgate lamp is located in the lower corner of the liftgate trim panel and are activated automatically whenever the liftgate is opened to illuminate the rear cargo area of the vehicle.

- Overhead Ambient (Halo) Lamps - Available overhead ambient (halo) lighting is controlled by a second thumbwheel dimmer switch located in the dimmer module of Left-Hand Drive (LHD) models, or by a separate push button switch integral to the headlamp switch on Right-Hand Drive (RHD) models.

- Second And Third Row Dome Lamps - The base incandescent and premium LED unit second and third row seating dome lamps are controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit.

- Second And Third Row Map/Reading Lamps - The second and third row dome lamps in the overhead console also serve as the map/reading lamps. Both the incandescent and the LED unit map/reading lamps are controlled by the courtesy lamp circuit and by independent lens-actuated switches in the overhead console.

- Rechargeable Flashlight - A removable twin-LED flashlight powered by rechargeable lithium batteries is mounted in a bezel/charging station located in the left quarter trim panel near the D-pillar in the cargo area of the vehicle.

- Vanity Lamps - An optional single intensity, incandescent vanity lamp is located on each side of a covered mirror on both the right and left sun visors, and is controlled by an integral vanity mirror cover-actuated switch.

Most controls on the instrument panel and elsewhere in the interior of the vehicle are illuminated by the panel lamps dimmer circuit for night visibility. All have miniature incandescent bulbs, Light-Emitting Diode (LED) units or a combination of the two lighting types that are soldered to internal circuit boards and are not serviceable.

Other components of the interior lighting system for this vehicle include:

- Dimmer Module - On Left-Hand Drive (LHD) models, the panel lamps dimmer and interior lighting control switch thumbwheel is integral to the dimmer module which is located on the instrument panel, adjacent to the headlamp switch. A PARADE position of the thumbwheel illuminates all display units at full brightness for visibility when driving in daylight with the exterior lighting turned ON. There are also detent positions to turn ON all interior courtesy lighting, and a DEFEAT position that overrides door ajar switch control of interior lighting. On Right-Hand Drive (RHD) models, the panel lamps dimmer and interior lighting control switch thumbwheel is integral to the headlamp switch. Headlamp Switch - Description.

- Door Ajar Switches - A door ajar switch is integral to the door latch mechanism of each front and rear door.

- Headlamp Switch - A headlamp switch is located on the instrument panel, to the left of the steering column. On Right-Hand Drive (RHD) models, the headlamp switch includes a thumbwheel for selecting the panel lamps dimming level and for interior lighting control. Headlamp Switch - Description. On Left-Hand Drive (LHD) models, the panel lamps dimmer and interior lighting control switches are integral to the dimmer module.

- Instrument Cluster - The ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) is also known as the Cab Compartment Node (CCN) in this vehicle. The EMIC/CCN is located in the instrument panel above the steering column opening, directly in front of the driver. Instrument Cluster - Description.

- Liftgate Ajar Switch - A liftgate ajar switch is integral to the latch mechanism of the liftgate.

- Totally Integrated Power Module - The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) is located in the engine compartment. Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) - Description.

Hard wired circuitry connects the interior lighting system components to the electrical system of the vehicle. These hard wired circuits are integral to several wire harnesses, which are routed throughout the vehicle and retained by many different methods. These circuits may be connected to each other, to the vehicle electrical system and to the interior lighting components through the use of a combination of soldered splices, splice block connectors, and many different types of wire harness terminal connectors and insulators. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, further details on wire harness routing and retention, as well as pin-out and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.
