Installation

INSTALLATION






1. Install transaxle into position.

NOTE:
The two transaxle-to-engine bolts next to the inspection cover will have a exhaust bracket under them.

2. On 3.6L engines install the transaxle-to-engine two outer lower bolts and torque to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

3. Install torque converter-to-driveplate bolts (1) and tighten to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).





4. Install torque converter dust shield and bolt tighten to 10 Nm (88 in. lbs.).





5. Install bolts (2) to stand off bracket (4) and tighten to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the remaining transaxle-to-engine lower bolts and torque to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

7. Install the cross under exhaust pipe (If equipped) Exhaust Crossunder Pipe - Installation.

8. Install bolts (3) to exhaust bracket.





9. Install the two lower transaxle-to-engine bolts and torque to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

10. Install torque converter-to-driveplate bolts (1) and tighten to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).





11. Install the left side transaxle mount bracket and bolts tighten to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).

12. Lift transaxle into place.





13. Install left motor mount bolts (1) and tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.)





14. Install the rear mount and bolts, tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).





15. Install the starter motor along with the front mount bracket.

16. Install the front mount bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).





17. Install the transmission crossmember and tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





18. Install front mount through bolt and tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)

19. the front and both side splash shields (if equipped). Splash Shield - Installation





20. Install the ground cable bolt and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).

21. Install halfshaft assemblies Half Shaft - Installation.





22. Lower the vehicle.

23. Install the left side mount bolts along with the heater tube bracket and tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).





24. Connect input speed sensor connector.

25. Connect both output speed sensor connectors (1, 2).





26. Connect solenoid/pressure switch assembly connector (2).





27. Install the transaxle-to-engine upper bolts and tighten to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).







28. Install and connect crankshaft position sensor (1) and tighten to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).





29. Connect oil cooler lines to transaxle. An audible 'click' should be heard. Verify connection by pulling outward.





30. Connect gearshift cable to the bracket

31. Connect gearshift cable to transaxle manual valve lever. Verify adjustment.





32. Install the vacuum pump Installation if equipped.

33. Install the battery tray

34. Install the tie straps holding harness and ground cable to the battery tray.

35. Install the battery (2) and battery hold down bolt (3).

36. Connect battery cables.

37. Fill trans axle Fluid/Filter Service.
