P141B
P141B-STARTER CONTROL 1 CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
The stuck closed diagnostic is run after the engine is started and running. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will command one of the Starter Relays closed and the other Starter Relay open and monitor the Ignition Crank Sense circuit feedback for voltage. It will then open the closed relay and close the open relay and monitor the Ignition Crank Sense circuit feedback for voltage.
- Set Conditions:
If there is voltage present on the feedback circuit during either of these tests, then the relay that was commanded off when voltage was detected is determined to be stuck closed.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure.
Diagnostic Test
ACTIVE DTC
NOTE:
Diagnose and repair any Starter Relay circuit faults that are present in the PCM or BCM before continuing with this test procedure.
1. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Replace the Starter Relay 1.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Intermittent Condition Test.
