Alarm System Transponder: Testing and Inspection

SENTRY KEY TRANSPONDER PROGRAMMING

All Sentry Keys or FOB with Integrated Key (FOBIK) units included with the vehicle are pre-programmed to work with the Radio Frequency Hub Module (RFHM) (also known as the RF Hub) when the vehicle is shipped from the factory. The RFHM can be programmed to recognize up to a total of eight Sentry Key or FOBIK transponder units. When programming a blank transponder, the Sentry Key mechanical key must first be cut to match the ignition lock cylinder (if equipped) or the FOBIK mechanical key must be cut to match the door lock cylinder in the vehicle for which it will be used. Once the mechanical key has been cut, the RFHM must be programmed to recognize it as a valid key transponder. To program the RFHM to recognize a new or additional valid key transponder, the Secured Access Method must be used. The details of this programming method can be found elsewhere in this service information.
