Backlite - Installation

INSTALLATION

MANUAL

1.

NOTE: The backlite fence should be cleaned of most of its old urethane bonding material. A small amount of old urethane, approximately 1-2 mm in height, should remain on the fence. Do not grind off or completely remove all old urethane from the fence, the paint finish and bonding strength will be adversely affected.
Clean urethane adhesive from around backlite opening.
2. If necessary, apply black-out primer to outer edge of replacement backlite.
3. If black-out primer was pre-applied on backlite, clean bonding surface with a clean lint free cloth.
4. Apply black-out primer to backlite opening fence.
5. Apply a 13 mm (0.5 in.) bead of urethane (4) around the perimeter of the window frame bonding surface (1).

6.

WARNING:
Allow the urethane at least 24 hours to cure before returning the vehicle to use.

NOTE: Roll down the left and right front door glass before installing backlite. This is to avoid pressurizing the passenger compartment if a door is slammed before the urethane is cured. The potential for water leaks can result.
Locate the glass assembly to the backlight opening. Align the pins on the glass assembly with the holes in the bottom corners of the backlight opening
7. Apply hand pressure to the outside glass surface, around the entire periphery, to assure proper seating of the glass to the backlight opening. The glass must be seated to the rest blocks.
8. Bend the (2) tabs on the inside of the backlite opening along the top edge. One on the left, and one on the right.

NOTE: Pressure must be applied from the "outside" of the backlight glass only while bending the tabs.

NOTE: Avoid smearing urethane on to the painted body surface or glass. Wipe immediately any urethane on exposed surfaces with a cloth dampened with alcohol.

9. On quad cab models install the upper C-pillar trim.
10. On standard cab models install the upper B-pillar trim.
11. Install the headliner. Headliner - Installation
