Body Control Module (BCM)






B2206-00-CURRENT VIN MISSING / MISMATCH

Theory of Operation

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) transmits the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) as a network message on the CAN C bus. The Body Control Module (BCM) receives and stores the VIN.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
The current VIN message from the PCM is different than the VIN stored in the BCM.





Diagnostic Test

1. PCM FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE INSTALLED

NOTE: This DTC is set when a PCM from another vehicle is installed into the current vehicle.

Has another PCM been installed?

Yes

- Confirm the PCM was replaced. Powertrain Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.

No

- Go To 2

2. OTHER CAN C MODULES SET VIN MISMATCH
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the VIN Mismatch DTC set in other CAN C modules?

Yes

- Replace the PCM. Powertrain Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.

No

- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .
