Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair






FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE

Use this procedure whether or not the fuel rail is equipped with a fuel pressure test port.

1. Remove the fuel fill cap.

2. Remove the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover from the PDC housing base.

3. Remove fuse F70 from the PDC.

4. Start and run the engine until it stalls.

5. Attempt restarting the engine until it will no longer start.

6. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.





CAUTION:
Before separating a Quick-Connect fitting, pay attention to what type of fitting is being used. This will prevent unnecessary fitting or fitting latch breakage.

NOTE:
Excessive fuel spillage onto the gaskets can cause gaskets to expand and dislodge from gasket groove.

7. Place a rag or towel below the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail.

8. Disconnect the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail (1) and plug with a shipping cap to prevent spillage Service and Repair

NOTE:
One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) may have been stored in the PCM memory due to disconnecting fuel pump module circuit. A diagnostic scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
