External Disc Module

B2199-16-BATTERY VOLTAGE-CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW THRESHOLD

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:
Vehicle System voltage less than 10.0 volts.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) DTCs

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged before proceeding.

1. Using the scan tool, read the active PCM DTCs.

Are there any battery or charging system DTCs present?

Yes

- Testing and Inspection and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.

No

- Go To 2

2. TEST FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Using the scan tool, record and erase the EXTERNAL DISC MODULE DTCs.
2. Start the engine.
3. Allow the engine to idle for two minutes.
4. Using the scan tool, read the EXTERNAL DISC MODULE DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: B2199-16-BATTERY VOLTAGE - CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW THRESHOLD?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

3. CHECK THE (A936) FUSED B(+) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR EXCESSIVE RESISTANCE

NOTE: Check the fuse in the Body Control Module (BCM) for an open. If the fuse is open, make sure to check for a short to ground prior to replacing the fuse.

1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the EXTERNAL DISC MODULE harness connector.
3. Ignition on, engine not running.
4. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A936) Fused B(+) circuit in the EXTERNAL DISC MODULE C1 harness connector.
5. The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (A936) Fused B(+) circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

4. CHECK THE (Z912) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR EXCESSIVE RESISTANCE
1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the (Z912) Ground circuit in the CD/DVD player harness connector.
2. The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace the EXTERNAL DISC MODULE.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .

No

- Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z912) Ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test .
