Electronic Power Steering Module (EPS)

C2129-16 BATTERY VOLTAGE-CIRCUIT VOLTAGE BELOW THRESHOLD

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

- When Monitored:
Ignition on.

- Set Conditions:
If the sensed ignition voltage drops below 9 volts with engine running or vehicle speed present for 100 msec or if voltage is below 7 volts the maturation time changes to 15 ms.

Diagnostic Test

1. CHARGING SYSTEM DTCS PRESENT
1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs in the PCM.

Is there any Charging System or related voltage DTCs present?

Yes

- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Testing and Inspection.

No

- Go To 2

2. VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Ignition on, engine not running.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
3. Start the engine.
4. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
5. Turn the ignition off.
6. Ignition on, engine not running.
7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Is the DTC active at this time?

Yes

- Go To 3

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.

3. POWER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
1. Turn ignition off.
2. Disconnect the EPS Module C1 harness connector.
3. Disconnect the EPS Module C2 harness connector.
4. Ignition on, engine not running.
5. With a 12-volt test light connected to ground, check the (A950) Fused B+ circuit at the EPS C2 harness connector and the (F942A) Fused Ignition Switch Run/Start circuit at the EPS C1 harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the Power circuits for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the EPS VERIFICATION TEST. EPS Verification Test.

4. (Z926) GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
1. Turn ignition off.
2. With a test light connected to B+ check (Z926) Ground circuit at the EPS Module C2 harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Replace the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) Module. Steering Gear - Removal.
- Perform the EPS VERIFICATION TEST. EPS Verification Test.

No

- Repair the (Z926) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the EPS VERIFICATION TEST. EPS Verification Test.
