Installation
INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
Failure to properly torque axle mounting bolts may result in axle damage.
1. Install the isolator (1) and axle mounting bolts (2) on the axle and tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).
2. Raise the axle into position.
3. Install the engine isolator bolts (1) and isolator through bolt (2) and tighten to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).
4. Install axle shaft tube mounting bolts (1) and wire harness bracket (2) and tighten to specifications. Front Axle - 215FD.
5. Install axle housing pinion nose mounting bolts (1) and tighten to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.).
6. Install disconnect actuator (2) wiring connector (1).
7. Install suspension crossmember (1), bolts and nuts (2) and tighten to specifications. .
8. Install skid plate (1) and bolts (2) and tighten to specifications. Skid Plate - Installation.
NOTE: Use new front propeller shaft fasteners.
9. Install front propeller shaft (2) with reference marks (4) aligned and tighten to specifications. [1][2]Drive/Propeller Shaft.
10. Install axle half shafts. .
NOTE: The vent cap must point upward. The position of the vent cap must be between the 10 o'clock and 11 o'clock position with the cap aligning with the engine isolator/axle housing bolted joint when looking at the axle from the front of vehicle.
11. Install axle vent tube.
12. Verify differential fluid level and add fluid if necessary. Front Axle - 215FD.
