Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM)






U1415-00-IMPLAUSIBLE/MISSING VEHICLE CONFIGURATION DATA

Theory of Operation

When powered, the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) performs an internal self test. The repair of this fault does not involve any external circuitry and centers on verifying that the module is configured correctly for the vehicle's restraint system components.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on. The EPPM on board diagnostics loads the EPPM Configuration Data from the TIPM CAN Bus message.

- Set Condition:
This DTC will set if the CAN Bus message was received but the information is invalid or corrupt.





Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. EPPM System Pre-Diagnostic Procedure.

Diagnostic Test

1. DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read EPPM DTCs.

Is the DTC active or stored?

ORC - ACTIVE DTC

- Go To 2

ORC - STORED DTC

- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. EPPM System Intermittent Test.

2. REPLACE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)
1. Turn the ignition Off.
2. Replace the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) - Removal.
3. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector - use the most current software available.
4. With the scan tool, erase all codes in the EPPM.

NOTE: The EPPM Reset Function must be performed after the repair to force the module to retest for this DTC.

5. Perform the EPPM module reset. Access the Diagnostic Procedures menu from the EPPM ECU Overview screen on the scan tool to perform this operation.
6. Wait one minute, and read active codes.

Does the U1415-00-Implausible/Missing Vehicle Configuration Data DTC return?

Yes

WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

- Replace the EPPM. Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module - Removal.
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. EPPM System Verification Test.

No

- Repair complete.
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. EPPM System Verification Test.
