Heated Seat Module - Operation

OPERATION

The Heated Seat Module (HSM) is used to control the functions of the following systems:

- Heated Seats Heated Seats - Operation

- Heated Steering Wheel Heated Steering Wheel - Operation

CAUTION:
When equipped with a leather wrapped heated steering wheel and replacement of a Heated Seat Module (HSM) is required, the new HSM must be manually configured with a scan tool. Failure to follow these instruction may result in damage to the heated steering wheel.

The HSM responds to heated seat switch status, heated steering wheel switch status (when equipped) and ignition switch status inputs, and controls the 12 volt Direct Current (DC) output to the seat heating elements or steering wheel heating element through integral solid-state relays.

The front seat heated switches and the heated steering wheel switch send request signals to the Cabin Compartment Node (CCN) over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The rear heated seat switches send a hardwired resistance signal to the rear door modules, which sends the request signal to the CCN over the CAN bus. The CCN then signals the HSM to operate the heated seats and/or steering wheel.

The HSM will only be on with the engine running. Therefore the heated seats and heated steering wheel will only operate with the engine running. The heated steering wheel can be on at the same time as the heated seats.

When equipped with a leather wrapped heated steering wheel, the HSM must be manually configured to the leather steering wheel option, using a scan tool Programming and Relearning.
