Distributor Assembly Replacement

Disassemble
1. Pull rotor from rotor shaft, then remove cover and gasket, Fig. 20.
2. Remove signal rotor shaft and stator attaching screws, then the signal rotor shaft and stator.
3. Gently tap signal rotor shaft from signal rotor.
4. Remove pickup coil attaching screws, then the pickup coil.
5. Using suitable pliers, remove governor spring retainers, then the governor springs and weights.
6. Scribe reference mark between drive gear and distributor shaft, then remove drive gear spring pin.
7. Remove drive gear and washer, then pull distributor shaft from housing.
Assemble
1. Install distributor shaft in housing, then gear on shaft. Align reference marks made during disassembly and install new spring pin.
2. Position governor weights on governor plate, then install governor springs and retainers.
3. Install signal rotor shaft on distributor shaft.
4. Install pickup coil to stator, then the stator to distributor housing.
5. Install and tighten signal rotor shaft attaching screws and the stator attaching screws.
6. Install signal rotor to the rotor shaft. Ensure signal rotor does not contact stator.
7. Connect vacuum controller link to breaker plate, then attach snap ring.
8. Install vacuum controller to housing, then the attaching screws.
9. Install gasket, cover and rotor.
