Control Assembly: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove instrument panel center bezel. Disconnect the cigar lighter, power window switch and rear window defogger switch (if equipped) wire connectors.
2. Remove knee blocker right and left sides.
3. Remove headlamp switch knob. Using a stiff wire or a small tool, insert it into the hole at the bottom of the knob. Pushing up with the tool and gently pull rearward till the lock tab releases the knob. Remove knob. Use care not to break the locking tab.
4. Remove the steering column shroud and it may require lowering of the steering column for additional clearance.
5. Remove instrument panel bezel. Use care not to break the locking tab.

6. Remove screws and pull control assembly rearward. Reach behind control and disconnect the wire connectors, vacuum lines and temperature control cable and remove switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Install control wire connectors, vacuum line and temperature control cable. Push control assembly into mounting and install mounting screws.
2. Carefully install instrument panel bezel. Use care not to break the locking tabs.
3. Install the steering column shroud. If steering column was lowered reinstall steering column.
4. Install headlamp knob.
5. Install the right and left knee blockers.
6. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
7. Connect the cigar lighter, power window switch and rear window defogger switch (if equipped) wire connectors.
