SUBJECT:
Steering Wheel Mounted Audio, EVIC Switches Function Intermittently Or Not At All
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting and replacing the steering wheel mounted cruise control switch if necessary.
NOTE:
The cruise control switch is a LIN node and must be replaced to regain proper EVIC and radio switch function for this issue. The cruise control buttons will function properly even when the LIN (EVIC & Radio) portion of the switch is inoperable.

2011 (JK) Wrangler
2011 (PM) Caliber
2011 (MK) Compass
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to June 1, 2011 (MDH O6OIXX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
ALL of the following symptom/Conditions must be exhibited:
^ The steering wheel mounted audio and/or EVIC switches may function intermittently or not at all.
^ The steering wheel mounted cruise control switches function properly.
^ Steering wheel mounted audio and/or EVIC switch functionality may be restored by honking the horn or by disconnecting and then restoring power to the steering wheel switches.
^ DTC U1109 may, or may not, be stored in the cluster
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Is this vehicle a JK?
a. Yes >> Proceed to Step # 2
b. No >> If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
2. Using WiTECH determine the part number of the CCN.
3. Is the current CCN part number 6806071 3AD, or a greater revision than AD?
a. Yes >> If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
b. No >> If the customer describes the symptom, perform Service Bulletin 08-038-11 and do not proceed further with this bulletin unless the symptoms reoccur.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the steering wheel mounted cruise control switch. Refer to the procedures available in DealerConnect / TechCONNECT > Group 08 - Electrical > 8P - Speed Control > SWITCH, Speed Control > Removal - REMOVAL.
2. Replace the cruise control switch
3. Install the new steering wheel mounted cruise control switch. Refer to the procedures available in DealerConnect / TechCONNECT > Group 08 - Electrical > 8P - Speed Control > SWITCH, Speed Control > Installation - INSTALLATION.
