PARTS REQUIRED:
NOTE:
The cable intended for LD/LX is orange in color and the cable intended for JC is purple.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.
1. Using wiTECH read the HFM Software Version. The software version can be found under the HFM Module Information in wiTECH.
2. Is the software version below 11.33.04?
a. YES >>> Proceed to Step # 3.
b. NO >>> This bulletin does not apply. Further diagnostics may be required.
3. Locate the HFM USB Connector. This is NOT the same as the USB port located on the radio.
NOTE:
JC Delphi 4-Way USB connector is located next to Diagnostic connector on the driver side.(Fig. 1). LD or LX wiTECH USB Cable is plugged directly into the HFM Module, which is located above the driver's side kick panel (Fig. 2).
4. Connect the wiTECH USB Cable to the HFM USB connector only, do not connect Cable to the PC until instructed by wiTECH.
CAUTION:
Do not interrupt vehicle power, cycle ignition, or remove the USB cable while performing software reflash. If the flash process is interrupted and the HFM part number cannot be returned upon attempting to restart flash, then module replacement will be necessary. If the HFM is able to report its part number, after an interrupted flash, restart the flash process to fully reprogram the module.
CAUTION:
**This flash may take over 10 minutes, if the ignition is in the on/run with the engine off, the ignition will time out after 10 minutes and turn off the vehicle in the middle of the flash. To by-pass this, apply the parking brake and move the gear selector to "NEUTRAL" with the ignition in the on/run position.**
NOTE:
wiTECH has been updated to store the large update file(s) to the local computer's hard drive. This will reduce the time required to perform this procedure after the first update is run.
5. Use the wiTECH Diagnostic Application to reflash the HFM module. Help using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing Hands Free Module is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP" tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS." This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen where help topics can be selected.
6. Read, and follow carefully, the warnings and instructions in ALL popup messages before acknowledging the message or proceeding further.
NOTE:
A module reset may be required in the event that an abort recovery is necessary. Procedures vary slightly between LD/LX and JC. LD/LX module power will be reset by removing the C1 connector from the HFM, see (Fig. 3). JC module power will be reset by removing fuse F131 from the passenger side fuse block, see (Fig. 4).
7. Disconnect the wiTECH USB Cable from the wiTECH computer.
8. Using wiTECH read the HFM Software Version. The software version can be found under the HFM Module Information in wiTECH.
