Body - Trunk Won't Open Using Passive Switch

SUBJECT:
Decklid Will Not Open When Pressing The Passive Entry Switch

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves evaluating the function of and/or replacing the passive entry switch.

MODELS:

2011 LD Charger

2011 LX 300

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built between December 21, 2010 (MDH 1221XX) and February 21, 2011 (MDH 0221XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Decklid will not open when pressing the passive entry switch.

DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer's VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Cycle the decklid passive entry switch (1) several times to verify proper function (Fig. 1).

NOTE:
Make sure the vehicle key fob is in hand. Passive entry switch will not function without key fob near its location.

2. Does the decklid open once pressed?

a. Yes >>> This bulletin does not apply, further diagnosis required.

b. No >>> Proceed to Step # 3.








3. Remove the passive entry switch. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerConnect > TechCONNECT > under: Service Info > 08 - Electrical > 8L - Lamps and Lighting > Lamps/Lighting - Exterior > LAMP, Center High Mounted Stop > Removal (Fig. 2) & (Fig. 3).





4. To remove passive entry switch from CHMSL housing, rotate counter-clockwise and remove connector x-mas clips from housing (Fig 4).





5. To install passive entry switch into CHMSL housing, align tabs on switch body with pattern on housing; insert until button is flush with outer lens; rotate clockwise. Insert connector x-m as clips into housing (

6. Install center high mounted stop light, refer to the detailed installation procedures

available in DealerConnect > TechCONNECT > under: Service Info > 08 - Electrical > 8L - Lamps and Lighting > Lamps/Lighting - Exterior > LAMP, Center High Mounted Stop > Installation.

7. Cycle the passive entry switch for proper function (Fig. 1).

NOTE:
Make sure the vehicle key fob is in hand. Passive entry switch will not function without key fob near its location.

8. Does the decklid open once pressed?

a. Yes >>> Return the vehicle to the customer.

b. No >>> This bulletin does not apply, further diagnosis required.
