B1001-96-RKE FOB - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the condition of the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) Fob transponder. When a report comes back to the BCM that the transponder has an internal failure, the BCM will set the code.

- When Monitored:
Continuously whenever the Body Control Module (BCM) is awake.

- Set Condition:
When the key is inserted into the ignition switch and the BCM recognizes that there is an internal failure in the present RKE Fob, this code will set.





TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
2. Be sure the ignition is on.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display; B1001-96-RKE FOB - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE?

Yes

- Replace and program the RKE Fob.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. The RKE Fob that set this code is not presently in the ignition.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
