B1021-19-FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED - OVER CURRENT

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) receives a hardwired signal from the Right Multi-function Switch indicating that the high speed front wiper is requested. When this signal is received, the BCM provides a voltage output through the high speed front wiper motor control circuit. For additional information on the Front Wiper operation, Front.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.

Front Wiper on High Speed.

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module (BCM) detects greater than expected current draw on the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Driver circuit.





1. CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. Turn the Front Wiper on High.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. ATTEMPT TO SET THE OPPOSITE DTC
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Turn the Front Wiper on High.
5. Wait for 10 seconds.
6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B1021-13-FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED - CIRCUIT OPEN / MOTOR THERMAL PROTECTION ACTIVE?

Yes

- Replace the Front Wiper Motor. Front Wiper Motor - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (W4) FRONT WIPER HIGH SPEED DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Driver circuit.

Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?

Yes

- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the short to ground in the (W4) Front Wiper High Speed Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
