B10AE-12

B10AE-12-RIGHT PARKING LAMP - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) receives the input from the Left Multi-function Switch requesting park lamp illumination. The BCM provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage output through the Park Lamp Driver circuit. The control circuit connects to the Park Lamps. A ground path for the lamps is present through the harness to the body sheet metal. For additional information on the Park Lamps operation, Exterior Lamps - Operation.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on and the Park Lamps off.

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module (BCM) detects a short to voltage on the Right Park Lamp Driver circuit.

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.

2. CHECK THE (L72) RIGHT REAR PARK LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE IN THE HARNESS
1. Turn the Park Lamps off.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Right Tail Lamp Assembly harness connector.
4. Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
5. Turn the ignition on.
6. Measure the voltage between ground and the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (L78) RIGHT FRONT PARK LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE IN THE HARNESS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Right Front Park/Turn Lamp harness connector.
3. Disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Measure the voltage between ground and the (L78) Right Front Park Lamp Driver circuit.

Is there any voltage present?

Yes

- Repair the short to voltage in the (L78) Right Front Park Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
