B10AE-19

B10AE-19-RIGHT PARKING LAMP - OVER CURRENT

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Body Control Module (BCM) receives the input from the Left Multi-function Switch requesting park lamp illumination. The BCM provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) voltage output through the Park Lamp Driver circuit. The control circuit connects to the Park Lamps. A ground path for the lamps is present through the harness to the body sheet metal. For additional information on the Park Lamps operation, Exterior Lamps - Operation.

- When Monitored:
With the park lamps active.

- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module (BCM) detects a short to ground on the Right Park Lamp Driver circuit.

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the Park Lamps on.
3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.

2. ATTEMPT TO SET THE OPPOSITE DTC WITH THE PARK LAMPS DISCONNECTED
1. Turn the Park Lamps off.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Right Front Park/Turn Lamp Assembly harness connector.
4. Disconnect the Right Tail Lamp Assembly harness connector.
5. Turn the ignition on.
6. Turn the Park Lamps on.
7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display DTC: B10AE-13-RIGHT PARKING LAMP - CIRCUIT OPEN?

Yes

- Replace the bulb or lamp causing the short to ground condition. Service and Repair. Tail Stop Turn Lamp - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. CHECK THE (L72) RIGHT REAR PARK LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the short to ground in the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 4

4. CHECK THE (L78) RIGHT FRONT PARK LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L78) Right Front Park Lamp Driver circuit.

Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

Yes

- Repair the short to ground in the (L78) Right Front Park Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
