B11AE-71-TRUNK RELEASE RELAY - STUCK

Theory of Operation

The Trunk Release Relay is internal to the Body Control Module. If the relay is stuck and cannot be freed, the BCM would have to be replaced.

- When Monitored:
Whenever the module is awake.

- Set Condition:
When trunk (liftgate) relay is stuck high, this code will set.





1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Try to open and close the trunk (liftgate) several times.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display; B11AE-71-TRUNK RELEASE RELAY - STUCK?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If the problem ever returns, replace the Body Control Module. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. ACTUATE DOOR TRUNK RELAYS
1. If the trunk is open, trip the latch closed.
2. With the scan tool, actuate the Trunk Release Relay one time.
3. If the latch released, trip the latch closed.
4. Repeat the previous steps three times.
5. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
6. Operate the trunk latch several times.
7. Wait 30 seconds.
8. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display; B11AE-71-TRUNK RELEASE RELAY - STUCK?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
