B13A7
B13A7-23-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN SWITCH - SIGNAL STUCK LOW
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
The window switches have three positions which are neutral, up and down. When pressed in the up or down position they send a signal, or command, to the Body Control Module (BCM) respectively. When pressed, the switch provides 12 volts from the Window Switch Supply circuit through a 350.0 Ohm resistor (built in) to the Up or Down signal circuit. The Window Switch Supply circuit also supplies 12 volts for switch illumination
- When Monitored:
Whenever the Body Control Module (BCM) is awake.
- Set Condition:
When the passenger window switch is stuck for over 30 seconds, this code will set.
1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
3. Try to open and close the passenger window several times.
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display; B13A7-23-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN SWITCH - SIGNAL STUCK LOW?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If the problem ever returns, replace the Window Switch. Power Window Switch - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH
1. Check the Window Switch for anything that may cause a sticking condition. Repair if necessary and re-check the DTC. If okay, continue testing.
2. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
3. Disconnect the Window Switch connector.
4. Cycle the ignition off then on
5. Wait 30 seconds.
6. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.
Does the scan tool display; B13A7-23-PASSENGER WINDOW DOWN SWITCH - SIGNAL STUCK LOW?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Window Switch. Power Window Switch - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
3. (Q338) PASSENGER WINDOW SWITCH SENSE (DOWN) CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
1. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect the Body Control Module C3 harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Q338) Passenger Window Switch Sense (Down) circuit (Cavity 2) in the Window Switch connector.
Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (Q338) Passenger Window Switch Sense (Down) circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Body Control Module. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
