B13AA-19
B13AA-19-LEFT/RIGHT SIDE MARKER LAMPS - OVER CURRENT
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
Theory of Operation
The Body Control Module (BCM) receives the input from the Left Multi-function Switch requesting park lamp illumination. The BCM provides a voltage output through the side marker control circuit. The control circuit connects to the Park Lamps. A ground path for the lamps is present through the harness to the body sheet metal. For additional information on the Park Lamps operation, Exterior Lamps - Operation.
- When Monitored:
With the park lamps active.
- Set Condition:
When the Body Control Module (BCM) detects higher than expected current draw on the (L17) Park Lamps Driver circuit.
1. CHECK FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
3. Turn the Park Lamps off and on.
4. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
2. ATTEMPT TO SET THE OPPOSITE DTC
1. Turn the Park Lamps off.
2. Turn the ignition off.
3. Disconnect all the Side Marker Lamp harness connectors.
4. Turn the ignition on.
5. Turn the Park Lamps on.
6. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display DTC: B13AA-13-LEFT/RIGHT SIDE MARKER LAMPS - CIRCUIT OPEN?
Yes
- Replace the bulb causing the short to ground condition. Side Marker Lamp - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. CHECK THE (L17) PARK LAMPS DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the BCM C2 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (L17) Park Lamps Driver circuit.
Is the resistance above 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the BCM. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Repair the short to ground in the (L17) Park Lamps Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
