C1217-73-REVERSE GEAR SWITCH - ACTUATOR STUCK CLOSED

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Condition:
When the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module detects the signal from the reverse gear switch actuator is stuck closed.
NOTE: If any other DTCs are present, repair them first before continuing with this diagnostic procedure.
1. VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE
NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read and record the DTCs.
3. With the scan tool, read and record the Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.
4. With the scan tool, erase the DTCs.
5. Start the engine.
6. Shift the transmission into Reverse.
7. With the scan tool, read and the DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. ABS Intermittent Condition Test.
2. REVERSE GEAR SWITCH OPERATION
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, actuate the reverse gear switch.
Does the reverse gear switch actuate correctly?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module. Anti-Lock Brake System Module - Removal.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test.
No
- Replace the Reverse Gear Switch. For Automatic Transmissions Transmission Shifter - Removal and for Manual Transmissions Service and Repair.
- Perform the ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test.
