P0708-TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT HIGH

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) performs basic system checks to ensure proper controller operation. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the transmission range is invalid for any given gear. The Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is part of the TCM and cannot be replaced separately.

- When Monitored:
Ignition on, with no battery/system voltage DTCs present.

- Set Condition:
When position sensor is above 4.87 volts for 100 ms for two consecutive checks.

Always perform the AW60T Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

1. CHECK THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR
1. Clear DTCs.
2. Start the engine.
3. Using a scan tool, monitor the gear state.
4. Shift the transmission through all the gear ranges.
5. Check DTCs.

Did the DTC reset or did any of the ranges read different from the actual gear selected with the shifter?

Yes

- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Check for any Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace and program the Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCM). AW60T TCM Programming Procedure.
- Perform the AW60T VERIFICATION TEST. AW60T Transmission Verification Test.

No

2. CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
2. Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
3. Wiggle the wiring and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits.
4. Check for Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for any possible causes that may apply.

Were there any problems found?
