P1D84-ETC SYSTEM FAILURE

Theory of Operation

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) performs basic system checks to ensure proper controller operation. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the TCM receives an ETC error bus message from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

- When Monitored:
Ignition on, with no battery/system voltage DTCs present and not during engine crank.

- Set Condition:
TCM receives an ETC error message from the PCM.

ECT DTC PRESENT IN THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
1. This is an informational DTC indicating that an ETC DTC(s) is stored in the Powertrain Control Module.
2. Erase this DTC from the TCM after all Engine DTC(s) have been repaired.
3. Using a scan tool, read the Powertrain Controller DTCs Testing and Inspection Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
