Gap Between C-Pillar Trim And Headliner
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing an additional self tapping trim fastener into the upper C-Pillar trim and modifying the green upper B-Pillar trim clip.
MODELS:
2012 (FF) Fiat 500
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before June 18, 2011 (MDH 0618XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may notice a gap between the C-pillar trim and the headliner.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom, (and the gap resembles that shown in (Fig 1)) perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the B-Pillar trim using a trim stick. Starting from the lower area, remove the 2 push clips and pull down the B-Pillar to disengage the 2 fingers tabs and remove the upper push clip (Fig 2).
NOTE:
Use care when removing trim not to damage the green push clips or they will need to be replaced.
2. Unscrew the upper C-Pillar trim fastener (1) from the upper attachment point near the headliner (Fig. 3).
3. Remove the 2 foams blocks (6) from the C-Pillar and reattach it using the original attachment location (Fig. 3).
4. Locate and align the new self tapping screw (2) on the C-Pillar trim foot (1) nearest the headliner and drill it through the plastic and into the body reinforcement in order to pull the C-Pillar tnm tight against the headliner (Fig. 4).
NOTE:
If trim pushes into headliner unscrew the self tapping fastener (2) until you start seeing uniform C-Pillar fit to the headliner.
5. Modify the upper green push clip (3) on the B-Pillar trim to allow clearance for the additional fastener head (4) installed in the C-Pillar trim foot (Fig. 4).
6. Reinstall the B-Pillar trim (1) using caution to ensure the B-Pillar Seal (2) is on the outside of the B-Pillar trim (Fig. 5).
