Power Lock Switch - Operation

OPERATION

The driver side power lock switch (also known as the door limit switch) combines a power lock switch with a central locking feature. Pressing the driver side inside door latch release handle inward, both doors and the liftgate are locked. Similarly, pulling out on the driver side inside door latch release handle will unlock both doors and the liftgate.

The driver side power lock switch provides hard wired outputs to the Body Control Module (BCM) indicating the power lock switch selection. The BCM responds to those inputs by providing hard wired outputs to the door lock motors and toggling the power lock system state as appropriate.

The hard wired circuits between the driver side power lock switch and the BCM may be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and procedures. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. However, conventional diagnostic methods will not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of the BCM or the power lock system. The most reliable, efficient, and accurate means to diagnose the driver side power lock switch or the electronic controls and communication related to power lock system operation requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
