Liftgate Release Switch - Description

DESCRIPTION





A liftgate release switch (2) is standard equipment on this vehicle. This tactile switch is integral to and concealed within the handle recess in the center underside of the liftgate handle and light bar unit (1), between the two license plate lamps (3) and above the license plate tub on the outer liftgate panel. The resilient, black switch button is all that is visible on the exterior of the handle and light bar unit.

The switch is hard wired directly to the handle and light bar wire harness, which connects the switch to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the body wire harness within the liftgate. An integral diagnostic resistor is connected in series with the output side of the switch.

The liftgate release switch cannot be adjusted or repaired. If the switch is damaged or ineffective, the entire liftgate handle and light bar unit must be replaced.
