Manual Temperature Control (MTC) System

MANUAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL (MTC)

The A/C heater control (1) for the Manual Temperature Control (MTC) heating and A/C system allows one temperature setting for the entire vehicle. The MTC heating and A/C system uses a combination of electrical and cable operated controls to provide the vehicle operator with a number of setting options to help control the climate and comfort within the vehicle. All controls are identified by International Standards Organization (ISO) graphic symbols.

The MTC A/C heater control and control panel (5) are located in center of the instrument panel and contain:

- a rotary mode control (6). The mode control is attached to the mode door cable (10) by a shaft and lever. A micro switch is also used to request A/C compressor operation when set in both Defrost and Mix (Foot/Defrost) modes.
- a rotary recirculation control (7). The recirculation control is attached to an electric micro switch by a shaft (3).
- a rotary on/off and blower speed control (8). The on/off/blower control is attached to an electric switch (2), that also contains the A/C on/off switch. A/C on/off selection is made by pressing on the blower speed control.
- a rotary temperature control knob (9). The temperature control is attached to the temperature control cable (4) by a shaft and lever.

The A/C heater control and the control panel cannot be adjusted or repaired and must be replaced if inoperative or damaged. The lamps for A/C heater control illumination are available for service replacement.
