A/C Liquid Line - Installation

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level . Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, see the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level .

NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line dual plain seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace the dual plain seals may result in a refrigerant system leak.

NOTE: Front bumper beam removed from view for clarity.

1. Position the A/C liquid line (1) into the engine compartment.
2. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser ports.
3. Lubricate new dual plain seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified seals as they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
4. Engage the A/C liquid line to the A/C discharge line (2) and connect the lines to the A/C condenser tapping block (3).
5. Install the retaining bolt (4). Tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).

6. Engage the A/C liquid line (1) to the plastic retaining bracket (2) located on the right side of the engine compartment.
7. Install the engine coolant reservoir Coolant Recovery Bottle - Installation.

8. Engage the A/C liquid line (2) to the plastic retaining bracket (4) located on the right strut tower.
9. Engage the A/C liquid line to the plastic retaining bracket (3) located on the dash panel, behind the engine.
10. Install the A/C pressure transducer (1) A/C Pressure Transducer - Installation.
11. Connect the fuel supply and return lines to the engine Service and Repair.

12. Remove the tape or plug from the opened liquid line fitting and the expansion valve port.
13. Lubricate a new O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and install it onto the liquid line fitting. Use only the specified O-ring seal as it is made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
14. Connect the A/C liquid line (4) to the A/C expansion valve (1).
15. Install the nut (3) that secures the A/C liquid line to the A/C expansion valve. Tighten the nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
16. Install the front fascia.
17. Evacuate the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Evacuate.
18. Adjust the refrigerant oil level Refrigerant Oil Level.
19. Charge the refrigerant system Refrigerant Oil Level.
20. Install the engine trim cover.
21. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
