Sunroof Switch - Operation
OPERATION
The power sunroof switch is hard wired to the electronic module integral to the power sunroof motor. The electronic module provides the switch with a source current whenever the ignition switch is in the ON position. When one of the switch positions is selected, it sends a signal back to the electronic module and the electronic module controls the motor to move the sunroof panel to the appropriate position.
A short duration (for more than 300 milliseconds) press of the switch button is interpreted by the electronic module as an Express (also known as one touch) command, where the motor will automatically move the glass panel to the fully open, fully closed or the ventilation position. After the initial OPEN command, the sunroof can be stopped at any incremental position by pressing the switch button again which is interpreted by the electronic module as a manual command, where the motor moves only as long as the push button is held in the depressed position. During an Express event, any new switch input will immediately stop an in-progress event which, as in the manual mode, allows the customer to stop the sliding glass panel at any desired location.
The power sunroof switch may be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and procedures. Refer to the appropriate wiring information.
