B1032

B1032-13-DRIVER DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH - CIRCUIT OPEN

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

Theory of Operation

The Door Lock Switch is an internal part of the Door Latch Assembly. It is controlled by the door latch rod connected to the inner door latch handle. The switch supplies a 1000.0 Ohm resistance in the lock position and 0.0 Ohms in the unlock position. The BCM uses that input momentarily and opens the contact to ground on the appropriate lock or unlock driver circuit and supplies 12 volts to that circuit.

- When Monitored:
Continuously whenever the Body Control Module (BCM) is awake.

- Set Condition:
When the Driver Door Lock Switch Mux circuit is open for over five seconds.

1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
1. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
2. Operate the Driver Door Lock Switch several times.
3. Turn the ignition on and wait 30 seconds.
4. With the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

Does the scan tool display; B1032-13-DRIVER DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH - CIRCUIT OPEN?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

2. DOOR LOCK SWITCH
1. Disconnect the Driver Door Latch harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Lock/Unlock Switch status in the data display.
4. Connect a jumper wire momentarily between the (P3) Driver Door Lock Switch Mux circuit and the Ground circuit in the harness connector (Cavities 2 and 3).

Does the status toggle from Lock to Unlock when the jumper is inserted and then removed?

Yes

- Replace the Driver Door Latch. Front Door Latch - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. DRIVER DOOR LOCK SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, check the Ground circuit (Cavity 2) in the harness connector.

Does the test light illuminate brightly?

Yes

- Go To 4

No

- Repair the open in the ground circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

4. (P3) DRIVER DOOR LOCK SWITCH MUX CIRCUIT OPEN
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Body Control Module C1 harness connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the (P3) Driver Door Lock Switch Mux circuit between the BCM C1 harness connector (Cavity 51) and the Driver Door Latch (Cavity 3) harness connector.

Is the resistance below 2.0 Ohms?

Yes

- Replace the Body Control Module. Body Control Module - Removal.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.

No

- Repair the open in the (P3) Driver Door Lock Switch Mux circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
