Theory of Operation
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) performs basic system checks to ensure proper controller operation. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the neutral position has not been learned.
- When Monitored:
Ignition on, with no battery/system voltage DTCs present and not during engine crank.
- Set Condition:
Neutral position has not been learned.
Always perform the AW60T Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
PERFORM NEUTRAL POSITION LEARN PROCEDURE
1. Using the scan tool, perform the neutral position learn procedure.
2. Clear DTCs.
3. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
4. Ignition on, engine not running.
5. Check DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Check for any Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace and program the Transmission Control Module (TCM). AW60T TCM Programming Procedure.
