P1302
P1302-TRANSMISSION SELF-LEARNING SIGNAL NOT RECEIVED
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
With the ignition on.
- Set Conditions:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) times out while trying to communicate with the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding.
Diagnostic Test
1. VERIFY DTC IS ACTIVE
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read active DTCs.
NOTE: If the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission, this DTC will be set anytime a PCM is replaced, a PCM is flashed, or a certain type of PCM reset is performed. The DTC will remain active until the PCM receives an input from the clutch pedal, press and hold the clutch pedal for a few seconds and the DTC will change to pending and then stored upon a key cycle.
Is this DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 3
2. VERIFY IF THIS DTC SET IN OTHER MODULES
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, view DTCs present for all modules.
Are any other modules on the CAN BUS reporting communication DTCs against the TCM?
Yes
- Replace and program the Transmission Control Module (TCM). .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
3. CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
1. The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
2. With the scan tool, check the Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.
3. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
4. Wiggle the wiring and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Body Verification Test.
No
- Test complete.
