Theory of Operation

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) performs basic system checks to ensure proper controller operation. This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) sets if the TCM receives an ESM error bus message from the BCM.

- When Monitored:
Ignition on, with no battery/system voltage DTCs present and not during engine crank.

- Set Condition:
TCM receives an ESM error message from the BCM.

ESM DTC PRESENT IN THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM)
1. This is an informational DTC indicating that an ESM DTC(s) is stored in the Body Control Module.
2. Erase this DTC from the TCM after all Body DTC(s) have been repaired.
3. Using a scan tool, read the Body Controller DTCs and Testing and Inspection Perform the appropriate symptom.
